To help address furniture poverty and support our nonprofit and government partners, Hawaiʻi Island United Way launched a furniture bank in August 2025 by transforming our office lobby and storage room into a welcoming space for donations and distribution.

What is a Furniture Bank?

A furniture bank is a place where people transitioning into stable housing can come with their nonprofit or government agency advocate to pick out gently used furniture and household goods. One visit to a furniture bank can turn a new space into a cozy home.
