United Way is an international network of over 1,800 local nonprofit fundraising affiliates. Our organization raises awareness and helps people affected by our cause through extensive programs and services.

United Way Worldwide is the largest privately funded nonprofit in the world, creating solutions that build stronger communities. United Way Worldwide improves education, strengthens financial stability, and makes communities healthier. Locally, we connect people with causes that they care about through United Way.

We have a responsibility to our community and our donors and work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization. Most of your donation stays in your local community, supporting charities you designate, while a portion is used for administrative expenses and fundraising.

Yes. A donor can designate their donation to any 501C3 organization.
Any designation is honored and distributed with a small fee. -
All agencies interested in applying for the Community Impact Partnership Program submits an application and the Hawaii Island United Way has a committee who will interview each agency and decide based on the results of those interviews.

Our organization takes our privacy policy seriously and takes steps to protect and ensure the safety of our supporters. We do not sell or otherwise disclose information about our volunteers or supporters outside of our immediate organization. This policy has no exceptions. Yes. Your gift to Hawaii Island United Way, Inc. is tax deductible. We are a tax-exempt organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN 99-6012257. Donations are generally tax deductible in the year payment is received. Please consult your tax advisor for any questions regarding deductions or limitations.

The Hawai’i island united way’s community impact partnership program is a grant program open to all 501C3’s on Hawaii Island. This program which runs for a 2-year cycle is how organizations become program partners. The opportunity to apply for this program happens every 2 years.
